Yo EVCO!!!!!

haha maybe this is my last post,
GOOD JOB yea dun feel sad after getting SILVER ok? we have the gold standard there but we are just unlucky to meet so many good orchestra groups on the first day.

On Friday, there will be a passing out parade in AVT at around 1.30 to announce the new committees. Attendance is COMPULSORY.

One year have passed so fast without realising and i am going to step down in about 3more days?
Actually when i am being announced to be the chairman of EVCO, i felt very happy and excited. During those days being a chairman was a tough job, sometimes i felt very stressful and wished that i was not the chairman so that i can have a more easy life. But because of my promises during the shanghai trip:" i will try my best to make EVCO better and improve those areas that are weak", therefore i still manage to strive on to complete my responsibility.

I know i do scold your be it attendances or disciplines, it is still my promised to improve EVCO. I know you guys also dread scolding but if i dont do care about this, imagine how do people will think of EVCO? EVCO have poor discipline and attitude? To avoid this situation, therefore i will be very naggy. But do forgive me if i have said anything that are hurtful and causing your felt unhappy.

I do enjoy the time that we had spent together, it was the most memorable time in my life. CO used to be isolated among sections but through camps and all activities that we have gone through, we got to know more about each other. I bet we have fun during this one year.

I really learnt a lot of skills in music throughout this four year and i have never regret taking CO as my CCA, I want to thank conductor see, coach lin for teaching me so much in music skills; all the teachers-in-charge and seniors that encouraging me to strive on during my tough days; nevertheless all the members that allowing me to achieve my promises.

I shall share with juniors that if u guys wanted to make sure your get a gold for the next SYF, your should make it compulsory to bring instruments back home to practice every friday. Bringing instruments home doesn't mean placing it in one corner and never practice at all. A good musician needs to practice everyday be it half an hour, one hour or even more!! But if you cant practice everyday, then make up during ur practices.

JYJY EVCO, My advice to your is:" NO MATTER WHAT ARE THE SET BACKS, JUST BELIEVES IN YOURSELVES THAT YOUR CAN MAKE IT, THEN YOUR WILL BE ABLE TO OVERCOME IT".

I am so proud of you guys!!!!! I know there's a little disappointment in the air but hey you guys really improved by leaps and bounds!!!!! When I heard you guys play in the concert hall, I was so moved with emotion... I was thinking to myself... wow... you guys have improved so much over the past two years! Indeed you did not let yourself down.... I remembered two years ago we all promised that we would work very hard for the next SYF and you guys did that... we promised we would improve and you guys did that!

guys, i miss all of you and i was quite upset that i could not make it to see your practices, i am so sorry about that due to my own upcoming SYF and training practices.The last round i saw and heard you guys practice was during the BBQ and the SCH practice, i have heard difference in the song that i use to hear, i have seen a different team spirit in all of you,something i have not seen in sometime.I want you guys to keep up the good work that you have shown me. That day at the SCH , you guys played, i was surprise by the different music quality i heard, yet coach say that not your best. If i have not heard your best and have been surprise by it, then your best must be really speechless. I am waiting to hear that.

ok guys i personally feel there is only one thing lacking and that is your feelings for the song , some of you will ask me:" what feelings can i have for these song?" Let me tell you this, feelings are important to express the true sound in the music you guys are playing, to feel the music you are playing in yourself and to show it out through your fingers and mouths(for those that are blowing). To help you guys feel the music,so i decided to help you guys by giving you guys a background of the songs.

Cicada
Song of cicada is a new song , but this is what i have found out about the insect call cicada,

Male cicadas have loud noisemakers called "timbals" on the sides of the abdominal base. Their "singing" is not the stridulation (where two structures are rubbed against one another) of many other familiar sound-producing insects like crickets: the timbals are regions of the exoskeleton that are modified to form a complex membrane with thin, membranous portions and thickened "ribs". Contracting the internal timbal muscles produces a clicking sound as the timbals buckle inwards. As these muscles relax, the timbals return to their original position producing another click. The interior of the male abdomen is substantially hollow to amplify the resonance of the sound. A cicada rapidly vibrates these membranes, and enlarged chambers derived from the tracheae make its body serve as a resonance chamber, greatly amplifying the sound. They modulate their noise by wiggling their abdomens toward and away from the tree that they are on. Additionally, each species has its own distinctive song.^[1]

Average temperature of the natural habitat for this species is approximately 29°C (84°F). During sound production the temperature of the tymbal muscles were found to be slightly higher.^[5] Cicadas like heat and do their most spirited singing during the hotter hours of a summer day.

Although only males produce the cicadas' distinctive sound, both sexes have tympana, which are membranous structures used to detect sounds and thus the cicadas' equivalent of ears. Males can disable their own tympana while calling.^[6] Adult cicadas have a sideways-ridged plate where the mouth is in normal insects.

Some cicadas produce sounds up to 120 dB (SPL)^[6] "at close range", among the loudest of all insect-produced sounds.^[7] Conversely, some small species have songs so high in pitch that the noise is inaudible to humans^{[citation needed]}. Species have different mating songs to ensure they attract the appropriate mate. It can be difficult to determine which direction(s) cicada song is coming from, because the low pitch carries well and because it may, in fact, be coming from many directions at once, as cicadas in various trees all make noise at once.

In addition to the mating song, many species also have a distinct distress call, usually a somewhat broken and erratic sound emitted when an individual is seized. A number of species also have a courtship song, which is often a quieter call and is produced after a female has been drawn by the calling song.

these animals live in the temperate and tropical climate,therfore imagine a serene forest with the insect there singing it's song,this is what the cicada represents

Cicada songs are regularly used in Japanese anime to indicate that a scene is taking place in the summer.

In the Japanese novel The Tale of Genji, the title character poetically likens one of his many love interests to a cicada for the way she delicately sheds her scarf the way a cicada sheds its shell when molting. They are also a frequent subject of haiku, where, depending on type, they can indicate spring, summer, or fall^[14].

now that you know more, learn to appreciate the music and imagine yourself there, and think how would you play this song to bring th best out of it.

this song actually depicts the the general at the war , preparing for battle, a song of both discipline and war,even though i can't find the original description for the song, but by hearing this song shows the bravness of the warriors in battle,the discipline in marching and the pride they have to defend their country. Like them you guys must be daring , brave, proud of our EVSS CO,so what if we are just some neighbourhood school some where on this island, we can still do our best so feel the song in you and you will naturally play out with emotions.

lastly i wanna tell you guys how proud of you guys i am , that i actually tell my cca mates about how great you guys have improve and how proud i am of you, but what i want to see is the smiles when you guys play tomorrow, dun let others beat you, you never know how good you guys are untill you hear yourselfs,so what if we dun meet expectations, as long as we tried our best you know that nothing can stop you guys.

Was at the practice today in SAC... It was great! I wanted to say a few encouraging things but I was afraid to stress you guys out. SYF is in two days and I honestly think you guys are the best EVSS CO has ever seen in the past few years.

Please take time to rest on Sunday. I am blessed to have known and be able to see you guys and gals grow, blossom and mature over the past few years. Don't think about the result. Just play you heart out. When all of you finished the last note just now, I honestly wanted to jump up and clap... haha...

I have a busy day on Monday but I definitely will be following you to SYF... I will be sitting inside the hall and clap my heart out then!!!!

I'm back to updating C.o blog again :D
Syf is nearing . 3more days.

It's been awhile since i took over this heavy responsibility down.
Before i know it, it's time to pass on to the next batch already .

Alrights, this how its goes.
I'm typing out my thoughts about C.o.
So, enjoy reading guys.[:

i took this hefty responsibility down when we're in Shanghai.
Yeah , i'm truly shocked & amazed .
I bet some of you guys too.
nevertheless, i cant reject this .
So, i tried my best to handle it well.

At the beginning, things was so like havoc .
Things dont go my way .
However , Several months passed .
The friendship b/w me and C.o members are getting great .
So much Better in fact.
I had a fun time with you guys during camps , practices , outings and all.

I never thought of C.o could be so bonded like that.
Never .
But, you guys prove me wrong.
This is the only cca till now that makes me so happy with you guys .

I may get nasty , irritating sometimes.
You guys are the ones who tolerate this and tried to get along with me.
Thank you , so much so much of thankyou .
You guys make this cca so happening, exciting .
Friends encourage each other to come for cca.
Practices maybe long and tiring .
However, you guys endure that !

Yeah , it's O's levels this year.

The attendance for sec 4s been great except for some.

This is the only batch that is so enthusiastic about co.

It's amazing , it's nice to hear that .

Hello all,
The 10 seniors that is gonna meet for SYF that day, reach at 10.30am, if possible.
If not, as long you are seated in Singapore Conference Hall by 3pm, its alright.
Transport matter wise, I leave to kwangyang/ joey to update about it.
Not sure you have to go yourself / go with EVCO.

We are reaching there early because we are gonna help them in their preparations (eg. make ups / last rehearsal / tuning / moving of instruments) Whatever that we can help, just push in the best effort for them, I believe all seniors thinks that way right? :) Read the posts here, as it is very hard to contact all of you :( Kindly read your mails too.

If you can't make it for the concert, must must tell kwangyang or joey about it yea.
If not, they will be waiting unknowingly, then ended up the ticket will wasted le.
Its not saying that you all must pon school lah, but if it happens that you really need to handle your studies in school, & no time for the concert, we won't force either. Just find someone to go for you as a replacement. thats all :)
