Hi all, its Brenna.
I know this blog is super dead so before I step down I want to make my last post.
HAHA !

Firstly, I would like to thank the teachers and the previous committee for giving me a chance to show my outstanding performance. This 1 year has been tough for the committee and me. I hope that the next badge of committe would do their part to encourage their fellow peers because next year would be SYF and it isn't easy to maintain a silver but I believe that all are able to achieve it. As long as all put in their heart and soul in practicing, you'll do it.

Yo EVCO!!!!!

haha maybe this is my last post,
GOOD JOB yea dun feel sad after getting SILVER ok? we have the gold standard there but we are just unlucky to meet so many good orchestra groups on the first day.

On Friday, there will be a passing out parade in AVT at around 1.30 to announce the new committees. Attendance is COMPULSORY.

One year have passed so fast without realising and i am going to step down in about 3more days?
Actually when i am being announced to be the chairman of EVCO, i felt very happy and excited. During those days being a chairman was a tough job, sometimes i felt very stressful and wished that i was not the chairman so that i can have a more easy life. But because of my promises during the shanghai trip:" i will try my best to make EVCO better and improve those areas that are weak", therefore i still manage to strive on to complete my responsibility.

I know i do scold your be it attendances or disciplines, it is still my promised to improve EVCO. I know you guys also dread scolding but if i dont do care about this, imagine how do people will think of EVCO? EVCO have poor discipline and attitude? To avoid this situation, therefore i will be very naggy. But do forgive me if i have said anything that are hurtful and causing your felt unhappy.

I do enjoy the time that we had spent together, it was the most memorable time in my life. CO used to be isolated among sections but through camps and all activities that we have gone through, we got to know more about each other. I bet we have fun during this one year.

I really learnt a lot of skills in music throughout this four year and i have never regret taking CO as my CCA, I want to thank conductor see, coach lin for teaching me so much in music skills; all the teachers-in-charge and seniors that encouraging me to strive on during my tough days; nevertheless all the members that allowing me to achieve my promises.

I shall share with juniors that if u guys wanted to make sure your get a gold for the next SYF, your should make it compulsory to bring instruments back home to practice every friday. Bringing instruments home doesn't mean placing it in one corner and never practice at all. A good musician needs to practice everyday be it half an hour, one hour or even more!! But if you cant practice everyday, then make up during ur practices.

JYJY EVCO, My advice to your is:" NO MATTER WHAT ARE THE SET BACKS, JUST BELIEVES IN YOURSELVES THAT YOUR CAN MAKE IT, THEN YOUR WILL BE ABLE TO OVERCOME IT".

I am so proud of you guys!!!!! I know there's a little disappointment in the air but hey you guys really improved by leaps and bounds!!!!! When I heard you guys play in the concert hall, I was so moved with emotion... I was thinking to myself... wow... you guys have improved so much over the past two years! Indeed you did not let yourself down.... I remembered two years ago we all promised that we would work very hard for the next SYF and you guys did that... we promised we would improve and you guys did that!

I am so proud of all of you! Now let's look forward to SYF 2011... we have a lot of things to do and we need all of you to help out!

Hey EVSS CO,

guys, i miss all of you and i was quite upset that i could not make it to see your practices, i am so sorry about that due to my own upcoming SYF and training practices.The last round i saw and heard you guys practice was during the BBQ and the SCH practice, i have heard difference in the song that i use to hear, i have seen a different team spirit in all of you,something i have not seen in sometime.I want you guys to keep up the good work that you have shown me. That day at the SCH , you guys played, i was surprise by the different music quality i heard, yet coach say that not your best. If i have not heard your best and have been surprise by it, then your best must be really speechless. I am waiting to hear that.

ok guys i personally feel there is only one thing lacking and that is your feelings for the song , some of you will ask me:" what feelings can i have for these song?" Let me tell you this, feelings are important to express the true sound in the music you guys are playing, to feel the music you are playing in yourself and to show it out through your fingers and mouths(for those that are blowing). To help you guys feel the music,so i decided to help you guys by giving you guys a background of the songs.

Song of cicada is a new song , but this is what i have found out about the insect call cicada,

Male cicadas have loud noisemakers called "timbals" on the sides of the abdominal base. Their "singing" is not the stridulation (where two structures are rubbed against one another) of many other familiar sound-producing insects like crickets: the timbals are regions of the exoskeleton that are modified to form a complex membrane with thin, membranous portions and thickened "ribs". Contracting the internal timbal muscles produces a clicking sound as the timbals buckle inwards. As these muscles relax, the timbals return to their original position producing another click. The interior of the male abdomen is substantially hollow to amplify the resonance of the sound. Although only males produce the cicadas' distinctive sound, both sexes have tympana, which are membranous structures used to detect sounds and thus the cicadas' equivalent of ears. Males can disable their own tympana while calling.^[6] Adult cicadas have a sideways-ridged plate where the mouth is in normal insects.

Some cicadas produce sounds up to 120 dB (SPL)^[6] "at close range", among the loudest of all insect-produced sounds.^[7] Conversely, some small species have songs so high in pitch that the noise is inaudible to humans^{[citation needed]}. Cicada songs are regularly used in Japanese anime to indicate that a scene is taking place in the summer.

In the Japanese novel The Tale of Genji, the title character poetically likens one of his many love interests to a cicada for the way she delicately sheds her scarf the way a cicada sheds its shell when molting. They are also a frequent subject of haiku, where, depending on type, they can indicate spring, summer, or fall^[14].

now that you know more, learn to appreciate the music and imagine yourself there, and think how would you play this song to bring th best out of it.

this song actually depicts the the general at the war , preparing for battle, a song of both discipline and war,even though i can't find the original description for the song, but by hearing this song shows the bravness of the warriors in battle,the discipline in marching and the pride they have to defend their country. Like them you guys must be daring , brave, proud of our EVSS CO,so what if we are just some neighbourhood school some where on this island, we can still do our best so feel the song in you and you will naturally play out with emotions.

lastly i wanna tell you guys how proud of you guys i am , that i actually tell my cca mates about how great you guys have improve and how proud i am of you, but what i want to see is the smiles when you guys play tomorrow, dun let others beat you, you never know how good you guys are untill you hear yourselfs,so what if we dun meet expectations, as long as we tried our best you know that nothing can stop you guys.

Was at the practice today in SAC... It was great! I wanted to say a few encouraging things but I was afraid to stress you guys out. SYF is in two days and I honestly think you guys are the best EVSS CO has ever seen in the past few years.

Please take time to rest on Sunday. I am blessed to have known and be able to see you guys and gals grow, blossom and mature over the past few years. Don't think about the result. Just play you heart out. When all of you finished the last note just now, I honestly wanted to jump up and clap... haha...

I have a busy day on Monday but I definitely will be following you to SYF... I will be sitting inside the hall and clap my heart out then!!!!

Hello there,
I'm back to updating C.o blog again :D
Syf is nearing . 3more days.

It's been awhile since i took over this heavy responsibility down.
Before i know it, it's time to pass on to the next batch already .

Alrights, this how its goes.
I'm typing out my thoughts about C.o.
So, enjoy reading guys.[:

i took this hefty responsibility down when we're in Shanghai.
Yeah , i'm truly shocked & amazed .
I bet some of you guys too.
nevertheless, i cant reject this .
So, i tried my best to handle it well.

At the beginning, things was so like havoc .
Things dont go my way .
However , Several months passed .
The friendship b/w me and C.o members are getting great .
So much Better in fact.
I had a fun time with you guys during camps , practices , outings and all.

I never thought of C.o could be so bonded like that.
Never .
But, you guys prove me wrong.
This is the only cca till now that makes me so happy with you guys .

I may get nasty , irritating sometimes.
You guys are the ones who tolerate this and tried to get along with me.
Thank you , so much so much of thankyou .
You guys make this cca so happening, exciting .
Friends encourage each other to come for cca.
Practices maybe long and tiring .
However, you guys endure that !

Hello all,
The 10 seniors that is gonna meet for SYF that day, reach at 10.30am, if possible.
If not, as long you are seated in Singapore Conference Hall by 3pm, its alright.
Transport matter wise, I leave to kwangyang/ joey to update about it.
Not sure you have to go yourself / go with EVCO.

We are reaching there early because we are gonna help them in their preparations (eg. make ups / last rehearsal / tuning / moving of instruments) Whatever that we can help, just push in the best effort for them, I believe all seniors thinks that way right? :) Read the posts here, as it is very hard to contact all of you :( Kindly read your mails too.

If you can't make it for the concert, must must tell kwangyang or joey about it yea.
If not, they will be waiting unknowingly, then ended up the ticket will wasted le.
Its not saying that you all must pon school lah, but if it happens that you really need to handle your studies in school, & no time for the concert, we won't force either. Just find someone to go for you as a replacement. thats all :)

Hello.
It's been a long time since i blog here already.
A lot of things had happen this few days, nobody expected that too .
Everybody want an enjoyable , fun co practices when classes ends.

C.o indeed improve a lot from the previous times.
Its a lot better , those enthusiasm in most of you had touch all the teachers and me. :D
Yeah, i'm glad everybody loves C.o here. Everybody enjoys it.
Be it to be Conductor's jokes, all other amazing stuffs.

Tomorrow will be Syf conference hall rehearsal.
Like we had said, tmr will be the first and the last rehearsal there.
Let's make it good, shall we.?
Let's bring out the life of music, the feelings of it there.
Most importantly, i want you guys to enjoy the procedure over there.
Taste the sweetness of success there on the 20th April.

NEWS FROM THE OVEN!!!!
Don't know is it a good news or bad news. Today Mdm Chang went to draw lots, we kena the FIRST DAY( 20th April). Our school is in between Pasir Ris Sec(Gold with Honours) and Chung Cheng High Main (Gold). After Pasir Ris Sec have 20 min interval, that means that we are the first to perform after the interval. BUT DON'T GIVE UP, just give them our very best and We will still get a GOLD award. We must reach Singapore conference hall at 3pm, there should be no lesson on that day as during the morning there will be last rehearsal for the SYF. Don't feel disappointed, and the GOLd awards depend on our performance. Don't panic during the SYF, I know that u guys will feel very excited and anxious. Try our very very very best and prove that a GOLD award is able to be obtained by a neighbourhood schools like EVCO. ALL THE BEST, JIAYOU's

On the 14 of MARCH we will be going Singapore Conference Hall for SYF rehearsal. Please be report to me in front of the CO storeroom2(near the Staff room)by 07 45 Sharp! Please help me to spread around after reading. No matter how important thing you have on that day, you still need to come for the rehearsal. The rehearsal is very very very EXPENSIVE it cost the school $5000 for an hour, so attendance for the rehearsal is compulsory!!! Please wear ORANGE CO T-SHIRT ON THAT DAY!!!

Yo EVCO,

erm as you guys know that we only left 7 weeks of preparation for SYF. It is not very far as days are passing fast and our target is not far too. Comment from jiao lian about the award, we are just a bit behind a GOLD. So if we work hard, we can achieve our goals. This SYF is very important as it decides about the no. of sec 1 junior joining in for the next few years. 'no pain, no gain', try to push any activities away from the practices to avoid clashing. I know some activities is very important but if because of ur personal stuff affect the whole orchestra, i don't think it is very pleasant. So i seek all of your cooperation just tolerate for this few weeks and pratice hard, GOLD award is highly possible to achieve. Lastly, do pray hard for Mdm Chang for this next week drawing lots session, we hope to get on the second day =).

I just knew some news that got me quite pissed off.
I feel that this year secondary one students are quite rude.
Thats what I think, because if you dont even learn to appreciate what the
instructor gives you, then dont warn us as if we need you in our family.
Its your choice to choose the CCA, the instrument. All what left is only your commitment.
We are very open towards your welcome & leave here.

Its good that I see Joey & Kwangyang able to control the people effectively.
Its your decision & your choice anyway. No one bothers what you learn.
Just try giving us attitude & we will show you what are we like.

Hi people,

It has been great hearing that we have improved a lot on our 2 SYF's songs! Honestly, we guys have the potential to get a Gold. If only we put in moreeeeeee effort and take pride in playing the pieces well, I think it'll be great. I've only been learning these 2 songs around a few months back and so do everyone. We've indeed improved a lot and jiaolian says we still can be better so we must put in our best to play the pieces well ok? And please respect jiaolian in all aspects. He's been working hard as well to train us and practice with us.

I think nobody will regret all the hard work that we've been through after we get a Gold (: It's really the hard work that everyone puts in to get this achievement. So, EVSS C.O! AIMMMMMMM for our common goal: GOLD/ G.O.H this SYF 2009.

Hi EVCO, welcome back to school.

The notices of the upcoming events had been pinned up on the notice board outside CO room. Pls go and have a look. Any enquires pls ask ur sectional leaders (SL) or any Comitee about it. On the 14th of Jan the practice will end slightly a little late.

Now holidays are over, therefore i expect 90% and above of the attendance to be full. To those who had been MIA for the whole holiday without informing us, pls make sure u guys come on the 14th of Jan. It will be tiring chasing u guys. Try not to be absent as this will affects ur CCA points.

In Chinese Orchestra also can discipline yourselves, as you need to be punctual, practice the songs that required, build up leadership and many many more. So i hope 2009 will be a good start of the year to practice hard for SYF. Remember our target for this year SYF, it GOLD!!! Aim hard for the goals that we are targeting and achieve it. JYJY. Hope you guys can cooperate with us. =)

Last but not least to remind all of u pls be 15 min early for all practices, so that we can start the practices punctually.

To All EVCO members,

I just want to wish every single one of you all the best for the upcoming SYF performance that will be around Mid of April, although it is still quite a long while to the SYF. I believe that we deserve the Gold award, if we practice hard enough.

Show everyone that you are definitely carriers of the Gold award!

SYF is the time that every single one of you will have the opportunity to show to everyone that even though you are from a neighborhood school, you can acheive such a good achievement.

It's time for EVCO to rise up as one of the Performing Arts that can have such a good achievement, so practice hard ok?

The songs of Cicada must have the same standard with our chuang jiang ling! I know you guys will like to achieve a gold. So jyjy, the attendance must improve! Must tell yourself that we can make it, not only that we must use actions to prove it.

Dear Members and Seniors of EVCO,

sorry for the inconvienient as for the CO Camp will be cancelled. But the activities will be carried out in school. Only things that changes is only that we will not stay over night. We will be practicing from 9am-5pm after 5pm we will go downtown east to catch a movie or bowl, 12nn-1am we will be having some game( for tuesday). Wed we will be practicing from 9am- 12nn, then from 12nn- 5 is our free time where our game will be coming in..
After that we will be having bbq, the bbq will still be the same venue... so SENIOR not to worry pls meet at E-hub as usual. pls wear Orange t-shirt for the practice tomorrow. pls spread it around.

CO night camp cancelled as Mr Goh as got meeting clashed with CO camps, and there is no teacher-in-charge around. ALL teacher not available, therefore we needed to cancel the night camp.

As for the 10 bucks, we will not refund. Mr Goh will explain to u guys what happen to the 10 bucks. The collection of the 10 buck will still continue...

pls remember to bring $5 bucks so that we can continue our activties, the remaining money Mr Goh will settled for u guys.

Ok.. I'm going to answer all the tags all your questions you have for this CO CAMP which is held on the 4th of NOV - 6th of NOV.

What must we wear on the first, second or third day?
On the first day, everybody MUST wear the ORANGE CO TEE.
Second day - Any co tee / Pe t shirt. If those of you who does not have pe or co tee you are suggested to wear home clothes. (any type, please do not ask what colour -.-)
The third day- Pe tee, Co tee or home clothes. (to your preference)

Must we bring running shoes ? can we wear slippers?
It is not a must for you guys to bring running shoes but you need to bring at least a pair of shoes which you will feel comfortable wearing it for the physical activities held on the second day of camp. You can bring your school shoes, sneakers or sports shoes.
Slippers can be worn when we are having practices.

Can we bring handphones/mp3s/psp there?
You can bring it there but we will not be responsible if you lose it.
Make sure you take good care of your belongings and bring it where ever you go.

I will not be going for the co camp, because of some problems.
Even if you are not attending this co camp you will still have to pay $10 for it because We have already said that it is compulsary for all co members. Please be responsible enough to pay the $10.

What time/when must we report in school ?
Everybody must report in school by 11am on the 4th of NOV.
Meet @ our usual place where you guys always assemble before CO starts.
Hope there won't be any latecomers.

For those seniors who will be attending the BBQ.
Joey said that she will meet up with you guys first before bringing you guys to the Campsite.
Maybe you guys can meet @ downtown east? I'm not sure about that.

On behalf of the teachers and coaches, I must extend my most heartfelt thanks to Kwang Yang and Joey for organising the appreciation for us... This is the first time such a thing was initiated. Thanks a million for the thought! I am really sorry I cannot stay for the celebration yesterday. My wife is at home yesterday and I do need to go home to accompany her...

please practice it hard & show us your talent instead of complaining!
It is your responsibility to learn the instrument if you are assigned to!

When i first came to CO, i was also put in liuqin when i wanted cello.
Who told you that i love my instrument then?
I hate it alot, but years went by, and i learn how to love my instrument
& practice it well, so i hope to see everyone love their instrument well
instead of complaining! This is should be the correct attitude.
If not, whats there for to assign? Might as well you get into whichever
instrument you want!

CCA POINTS ARE DEFINITELY IMPORTANT, I SWEAR.
You may not find it important now because you guys
haven reach secondary 4!
Please please please attend your CCA regularly & dont miss it.
If you realised those different people in different instruments,
they are way friendly than you could expect.
Its interesting & fun in your own CCA, look inside & talk to them.

THEY WONT CHEW YOU UP!

i have somethong to clarify wif u guy la... Do your want to get GOLD for this coming SYF de? huh? you noe you guys make me feel tat i am lousy? cant manage the CO well.. Can you guys show some respect to senior, coach, comittee and teacher? i dun like to scold u guys u noe pls cooperate wif us, nobody likes the feeling of scolding.

i appreciate those ppl who tried their best to make CO a better place for u guy to be in. But some of u guys dun want to come for practice then tell me u guys have something on, i close one eye n agree to excuse ur for going for the practice. but then some ppl come n chit-chat around, not that ur cant chit-chat but can ur try to do tat during the breaks in between the practice.

i expect ur to respect ur seniors, teacher, coach, comittee n the speaker. dun talk during the speaker is talking, reply the speaker if neccessary. Any question pls save till the speaker ask:'any question?' come on man, pls confront us if there is any clarification.We wont 'eat' u guys up, instead we are more than happy to listen to ur say/ opinion.

Do practice hard ok for this comiing SYF? remember," practice makes perfect". Seriously, all instruments are important. Without u guys, our goals wont be achieved. SO PRACTICE HARD ARH?

Dear orchestra members who are constantly MIA (missing in action),

I was a student before... and I think I can understand why some of you do not like coming for CCA... I was in the band before and there was a period of time when I too felt very disconnected with the CCA... was wondering why did I have to spend so much time practicing and it was very tiring (and boring at times hehe) to keep on practicing and seeing not much improvement in myself...

I hanged in there because I had friends there... (hehe... my first girlfriend was from the same CCA as me... come on... don't laugh... I mean we spend so much time together that it was bound to happen...) some of you who are not coming to orchestra... perhaps you find you have no friends to 'pull' you to come... well... it takes two hands to clap... I am sure the current orchestra leaders are friendly people who will not 'eat' you up... give us a chance to be your friends... in an orchestra, everyone is IMPORTANT... there is no small part or unimportant instrument... we need everyone in order to play well.... I focused on my friends and not wanting to let them down.... that drove me to go for my CCA...

If friends still are not good enough for you to pull yourself up from your lazy bums (haha... mine too at that time when I was in secondary) to come for CCA, then perhaps please focus on the CCA points at the end... it just takes your presence at the practices to earn the attendance points... in East View, I feel students are not taking this seriously... CCA points can help you do better in your next phase in education... imagine if you get B3 for CCA (average mark for CO members), you will be able to get 1 point deduction to go to JC or if going to poly, you will be able to use B3 to replace your lowest scoring subject and thus earning you a better grade to go into poly... of course A2 and A1 will be better but that will only be reserved for those in leadership positions.... I got my A1 in CCA and believe me, that helped me a lot for my application into JC...

I am also very relaxed about the CCA... I do not breathe down your neck and forcing you to come for CCA... I do know you need to have some space but please be fair to the rest of the students. I do not wish to not award any points to you. And although I do not see you guys and gals often, I am still around and you can always come and find me to chat if you wish to....

just a lil' pissed with people that dont wanna focus on CO.
Recently, heard excuses from so many people..

Firstly, sherry.
Please make up your mind whether you still wanna be a part in CO,
i am sorry to say this, but you really dont focus in your instrument
and like to tell us rubbish.

Joey & kwang yang had enough of your nonsense okays.
As a senior, i feel that i should tell you to stop all these now.
Its soon or later you will get a terrible scolding, so i rather you stop NOW.

Secondly, yan liang.
Yes, i reprimanded you the other day for not turning up to CO at least 2 months.
You tell me you have tuition, but i feel that tuition is something that can be changed,
and if in the past you were able to come for CO,
i dont see a reason why you cant come now, its ridiculous.

Please wake up both of you & have a sense of responsibility.
You are not longer in primary school, if you are not happy with your instrument,
you can always tell us, instead of giving stupid excuses.

Thirdly, penny/ yulin.
If both of you dont wanna turn up for sectionals,
please jolly well tell us and get out.
Call handphone/ house, dont listen.
reminded you in the morning, still dont wanna come.
if thats the reason, i shall respect your decision and get
mr goh to strip off your CCA points, no point coming once or twice in a month.
ITS USELESS.

yo EVSSCO!!!! here to post about the practice today. Ok i noe u guys and girls today had done ur best during practice right? haha keep it up k? the standard of our CO must incline ok? that only could be done if WE the whole orchestra co-operates wif one another by doing our best at all times. today the attendance was good, hope to see that all members turn up for practices =) NO slacking le arh the SYF scores coming le so work hard to achieve our target. Was so busy these past weeks... and do miss seeing you guys and gals... Haha... dun know whether if you guys forgot me or not... Anyway was having a meeting in the conference room just now and was hearing the lovely strands of your music flowing through the distance.... so nice... couldn't help myself but hum along to it...

Do keep up the effort in practicing ok? Even if the going is tough, you guys and gals must tell each other that it is all worth it... resilience is hanging in there even though it is so tough to do so... keep your focus on next year and let us run together this race...

Hi! Mr Goh here... just wanted to post an entry to say that I think you guys did a most impressive performance during assembly last week! Seriously I didn't think that 闯将令can ever be performed so soon... was so surprised to hear the piece out....

Please do continue to train hard for the competition... ask 教练to get more songs too... so that you guys can also train for next year's concert!

Will be trying to get the campsite for CO camp... pray hard I can get it done!
